If the terrain is composed of
a large flat surface with low grass
bounded by high woods,
the best place for the Wind Energy Conversion System
is on the grassland. The rotor / hub height must clear thetrees
by at least one-third the hub height.

For a flat terrain with a lake or pond
with a shelterbelt composed of
trees of differing heights,
the best place for the Wind Energy Conversion System
is above and slightly downstream of the shelterbelt,
preferrably so that the water is in the upstream directionwith respect to the main wind direction

For an inland lake known to experience large waves,
the best place for the Wind Energy Conversion System
is close to the shore, if the prevailing wind direction isfrom the water to the land.
